Obituary

Zeta Evelina Smith, who resided in Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Heart of Hospice Inpatient Unit at Baptist Health in Fort Smith. She was born on August 20, 1939, in the Arbuckle Island Community in Sebastian County to the late Zenith House and Delilia (Hobbs) House. She was 84 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Smith, Sr; and a son, David Smith, Jr.

Zeta received her LPN degree, where she worked for Sparks Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith. She liked to crotchet and knit, and was part of the Knitter & Knotters and Pacesetter's. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Rev. Bud Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Island Cemetery, located northeast of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her grandson, Josh Smith and wife Jayci of Lavaca; one sister, Meladine Santos of Fort Smith; one great-granddaughter, Mary Grace Smith; two nieces, Karen Santos and Catrina Lane, both of Fort Smith; four great-nieces, Leah Donavan of Little Rock, Marly Mustard of Fayetteville, Grace Santos of Fayetteville, and Casey Freeman of Alexandria.

Pallbearers are Josh Smith, Ty Chapple, Andrew Donavan, Lafayette Richard, Kenny Hobbs, and Johnny Hobbs.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5th, at Brotherton Funeral Home in Charleston.
