Obituary

Wilma Fae Maples, who resided near Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston just one day prior to her 88th birthday. She was born September 2, 1926 in Lavaca to the late Weaver Douglas and Ruby (Kuykendall) Douglas. She was 87 years old. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George William "Bill" Maples; one sister, Wanda Brittain and one brother, Denver Douglas.

Wilma was a teacher's aide for Lavaca School District and was a member of Lavaca First Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Chester Gray officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by two daugters, Sue Featherston and husband Ron of Lavaca and Lou Mehle and husband Kevin of Charleston; one sister, Virginia Jeffrey of Santa Paula, California; one brother, Charley Douglas and wife Sedalia of Lavaca; one grandson, Cameron Mehle; three step-grandchildren, Amber Shook, Autumn Featherston, and Josh Featherston; one step great-grandson, Lucas Shook.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Douglas, Brent Douglas, Doug Brittain, Lee Brittain, Cameron Mehle, and Dawayne Stamper.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene and Louise Clearwater.

Family visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home.
