Wendell O. Carruth, who resided near Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at his home. He was born December 26, 1938 in Lavaca, Arkansas to the late Carl H. Carruth and Reba Juanita (Piercy) Carruth. He was 76 years old. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Floy (Montgomery) Carruth; his second wife, Charlene (Williams) Carruth; one son, Stanley Allen Carruth; one sister, Lavanna Morris.
Wendell was a retired chief deputy, prisoner transporter, and bailiff for the Sebastian County Sheriff's Department in Fort Smith. He served in the Army National Guard, a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Smith, and attended Life Church in Charleston. Wendell loved to go camping, his animals, birds, and the outdoors.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 19th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Terry Scott officiating. Burial will be at Carruth Cemetery, located northeast of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Hawkins) Carruth; two daughters, Deanna Redden and husband Kyle of Cleveland, Mississippi and Karen Davis and husband Heath of Charleston; one step-daughter, Michelle Russell and husband Scott of Charleston; one step-son, John Thomson of Charleston; one sister, Charlotte Harp of Lavaca; five grandchildren, Tara Childers and husband Jamie, Tyler Davis and fiancee' Shawna Guenette, Kortnee Redden, Tiffany Davis, and Kelsee Redden; one great-grandson, Beau Childers; three step-grandchildren, Casey Thomson, Breanna Thomson, and Josh Russell; one step great-granddaughter, Paisley Thomson.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Davis, Jamie Childers, Josh Russell, Jim Bill Bias, Jim Murfield, and Garett Scott.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chub King, John Pendergrass, George Woodruff, Casey Thomson, and all other members of the RV camping group.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.
