Obituary

Wayne Alfred Cox of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 in Little Rock. He was born December 4, 1935 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Dale A. and Eloise (Durden) Cox. He was 78 years old. He was also preceded in death by his wife Shirley J. Wyatt-Cox; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph W. and Eleanor Cox.

He was a 1953 graduate of Fort Smith High School. He began working at "555" Automotive, then to Fort Smith Automotive. This is where he met and fell in love with his sweetheart, Shirley J. Wyatt-Cox. They were married on June 5, 1955 in Branch, Arkansas. Wayne continued to be a sales representative in the automotive field next for Arrow Automotive and Monroe Matic Shocks. Life brought him and his family back to Arkansas in Little Rock. He had traveled for many years. He wanted to be home with Shirley and Ginger, their daughter. He next began work for T.J. Raney Bros. Investment Firm as Vice President. He ended his career before retirement having his own trucking business. He and Shirley retired so they could enjoy life and their family. He was known as "Pops" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston. Burial will be at Hampton Cemetery, located north of Branch, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Paul White of Roland, Arkansas; two sisters, Wanda Sue Haralson of Fort Smith and Patty Billingsley and husband Rogger of Roland, Oklahoma; two brothers, Charles W. Cox and wife Kay of Fayetteville, Georgia and Nick Cox and wife Nancy of Fort Smith; five grandchildren, Brodie White of Roland, Arkansas, Jessica White of Little Rock, Travis White of Roland, Arkansas, Cooper White of Little Rock, and Jake White of Roland, Arkansas; two great-grandchildren, Kayli Johnson and Easton White; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. And, a host of faithful friends.

Pallbearers will be Lance Cox, Greg Cox, Eric Cox, Jodie W. Haralson, Jr., Dale E. Haralson, Chuck Cox, Brandon Cox, and Brent Cox.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Cox, Charles Cox, Rogger Billingsley, Jim Wyatt, Bill Wyatt, and Phillip Wyatt.

Family will visit with friends 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
