Wanda Lorene Vowell, who resided in Bloomer, Arkansas, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 in Fort Smith. She was born August 21, 1933 in Childress, Texas to the late Grady Andrew Faires and Ethel Mae (Vincent) Faires. She was 80 years old. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Faires and Rayford Faires, and one grandson, Jacob Johnson.
Wanda along with her husband Bob, was owner and operator of Bob & Wanda's Catfish Restaurant in Barling, and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24th at First Baptist Church in Lavaca, with Mr. Jimmie Bailey and Mr. Adonis Bailey officiating the service. Burial will be at 12:00 p.m. at Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob Vowell of Bloomer; two daughters, Karen Kubatzki of Barling and Cheryl Stem and husband Loyd of Bloomer; four sons, Robert Vowell and wife Karen of Lowell, Darrell Vowell and wife Sandy of Glenwood, West Virginia, David Vowell and wife Traci of Greendale, Indiana, and William Vowell and wife Pam of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Weda Bailey and husband Jim of Oak Grove, Missouri; (17) grandchildren and (32) great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Vowell, Leslie Stem, Nathaniel Johnson, Mathew Johnson, Mark Watson, and Joseph Chronister.
Family will visit with friends 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home.
