Wallace Earl Haynes, 65, of Charleston, Arkansas, was born on July 30, 1958, in Ozark, Arkansas, and passed away on January 1, 2024, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was welcomed into heaven by his sons, Wallace Bryan Haynes and Christopher Lee Haynes, who preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herman and Verna Haynes; his maternal grandparents, Hillman and Rheue DeWitt; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Gwen Banning.
Wally was a 1976 graduate of Charleston High School. He began his career in 1978 working for Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company in Cecil, Arkansas. In 2019, he retired with 41 years of oilfield service, working for various companies, including Seagull Energy, Ocean Energy, XTO Energy and Exxon Mobil. When he wasn't working in the oilfield, Wally was working hard on his farm, raising cows or in the hay field. Wally loved the Lord with all his heart and was a proud member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston. He became a Deacon on October 20, 2019, and served as Chairman of the Deacons in 2023. Wally proudly loved and supported his children and granddaughter. He will truly be missed by his family and the community.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 5th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Bro. Larry Horne and Bro. Artie Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Angela Janelle (Banning) Haynes; his granddaughter, Bailey Janelle Haynes of Charleston; his son, William Robert Haynes, of New York, New York; his parents, Reed and Barbara Haynes of Charleston; his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Gina Haynes of Charleston; sister-in law Gennie Warnock; sister-in-law and husband, Wanda and Jeff Crosby of Charleston; brother-in-law, Rick Banning of Charleston; and five nieces and six nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jimmie Brown, Sammie Brown, James Corley, Jon Core, Clay Smith, and Jarred Ward.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, January 4th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund of Charleston.
