Virginia Ann Green of Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on March 31, 1937, in Saratoga, Arkansas, to the late Lonnie McCorkle and Mable Elbe (Douglas) McCorkle. She was 87 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Maurice Green: a great-grandson, Alec Green; and a brother, Escue Douglas.

For several years, Virginia was a registered nurse at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith and a teacher at Bost Human Development Center in Fort Smith. She was also a homemaker and faithful member of Lavaca First Baptist Church. The most important part of her life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she loved very much. She was considered the best grandma in the world. She also loved her extended family, church family, and had many friends. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 23rd at Oak Valley Cemetery, located south of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be her grandsons, Eric Green and Christian Green.

She is survived by two daughters, Alesia Balch and husband Larry of Lavaca and Rebecca Gay Green of Lavaca; two sons, Stanley Green and wife Delisa of Fort Smith and Brian Green and wife Maurie of Lavaca; a brother, W.J. McCorkle and wife Sherri of Greenwood; (9) grandchildren; (14) great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Eric Green, Cory Howard, Oliver Causey, Micah Balch, Christian Green, Matthew Balch, Seth Green, Ethan Green, and Nate Green.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.
