Obituary

Vera Lee Hewitt, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born August 18, 1935 in Charleston to the late Byron Tusing and Agnes (Jetton) Tusing. She was 77 years old. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kory Bakewell; two brothers, Earl Dean Tusing and Tom Tusing.

Vera was a homemaker. She was a hairdresser and cook at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston and Methodist Nursing Home in Fort Smith. She was also a 1953 graduate of Charleston High School and member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Charleston.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31st at First Free Will Baptist Church in Charleston, with Rev. Jeff Holland and Rev. Terry Scott officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth Hewitt; three sons, Kenny Hewitt and wife Cindy of Charleston, David Hewitt and wife Mary Jane of Charleston, and Darrin Hewitt and fiancee Candy of Kansas; one sister, Etta Mae Grubb of Branson, Missouri; one brother, Ruble Tusing of Scranton; (7) grandchildren and (11) great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roger Tusing, Kevin Speer, Bill Hewitt, Rodney Hewitt, Billy Bagwell, and Dewayne Tusing.

Family will visit with friends 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
