Obituary
Velma Raye Steele resided in Charleston, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith. She was born March 14, 1920 in the Marietta Community in Franklin County to the late Ephraim Newhart, Jr. and Cora Myrtle Gibson Newhart. She was 88 years old.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Charleston.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Dean Steele.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2009, at the Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Charleston, with the Rev. Vondal Davenport and the Rev. Bill Van Meter officiating, burial at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Steele & wife Jean Ann, of Charleston; three grandchildren, Jennifer Teague of Prairie Grove, JoAnna Main of Springdale, and John Steele of Charleston; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Teague and Hunter Main.
Pallbearers will be Jack Newhart, Greg Newhart, Justin Newhart, Randy Koontz, Chris Whitney, and Eddie Binz.
Family visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.
