Velma Louise Reed, who resided near Ratcliff, Arkansas, died Friday, October 15, 2021, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was born on February 24, 1932, in Franklin County near Roseville to the late Arley D. Boren and Ina Lea (Walden) Boren. She was 89 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyndal Leon Reed, and two sisters, Ina Mae Gack and Evalin Ulrich.
Velma was a seamstress for many years at Lady Fair Mills near Ratcliff. She loved making handmade quilts, baking cakes for special occasions, and was a member of Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 19th at Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Bill VanMeter officiating. Burial will follow at Kersey Cemetery, located north of Ratcliff, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
She is survived by her two children, Diana Sparks and Stewart Reed, both of Ratcliff; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Rod Nietert, Taylor Nietert, Jeremy Nietert, Gary O'Neal, Tim O'Neal, and Jimmy Pannell.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
