Obituary

Truman "Nick" Nixon of Fort Smith, Arkansas, formerly of Lavaca, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born November 28, 1927 in Ratcliff, Arkansas to the late George Franklin Nixon and Gertie May (Perkins) Nixon. He was 82 years old.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Ray Nixon and John Robert "Bobby" Nixon; one brother, Travis Nixon; one sister, Dorthy Nixon and one great-grandson, Christopher Ray Myers Nixon.

Truman was a retired Region Operator for O.G.& E..

A private family committal service will be held Monday, May 10th at Wilcox-Nixon Cemetery, located south of Caulksville.

Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 10th, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Rev. Steve Poarch and Rev. Geral Holloway officiating, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Nixon, of the home; one daughter, Lana McGrew & husband Danny of Fort Smith; one son, Richard Nixon & wife Dian of Fort Smith; two brothers, Roy Nixon & wife Betty of Fort Smith and George Nixon & wife Gloria of Kingwood, Texas; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Champion, Kevin Kimbrough, Jack Holt, Zeke Burns, James Hawkins, and Danny McGrew.

Family will visit with friends 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
