Torgie James Lewis of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at The Blossoms Nursing Center in Fort Smith. He was born on June 30, 1949, in Santa Rosa, California, to the late Charles Newton Lewis and Maxine Mary (Jones) Lewis. He was 75 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; three granddaughters, Hope, Faith and Lucy; a grandson, Robert Jerold; two brothers, Richard Bartholomew and Charles Lewis; two sisters, Deanna Robinson and Cynthia Corzart; one aunt, Fern Twitty; and five uncles, Howard Lewis, Kenny Lewis, Mecolm Lewis, Floran Lewis and Doran Lewis.

T.J. moved to Arkansas six years ago. He served one year in the U.S. Army and was a retired auto mechanic. T.J. also drove a dump truck, a propane truck, loved to fish and watch westerns, and spend time with family and friends. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Fort Smith.

A family held memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 7th at East Side Baptist Church, 2710 Massard Rd. Fort Smith, AR  72903. (479) 452-1481  Officiating the service will be Pastor Ryan Scantling.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carol (Williams) Lewis; two daughters, Kimberly Paredes and husband Adam of Fort Smith and Lanessa Stephens and husband Billy of Skedee, Oklahoma; two adopted daughters, Nadia Gomez and Sara Compoos of Idaho; two sisters, Rachaele Ramer of Farmington New Mexico, and Stephanie Thompson of Visalia, California; two brothers, David Lewis of Porterville, California, and Cecil Lewis of Keystone, Oklahoma; (12) grandchildren; and (5) great-grandchildren.
