Sylvia Mae Meredith of Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024, at her home. She was born on September 13, 1926, in Branch, Arkansas, to the late Jack Penix and Mary Elizabeth (Shumate) Penix. She was 97 years old.

For many years, Sylvia worked at the Charleston Food Center and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Charleston. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Meredith and husband Bill Warren of Charleston; a son, Richard Meredith of Charleston; a sister, Hazel Dockery of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Eric Robertson and wife Lorie, Eran Robertson and wife Angie, Meredith Jimenez and husband Sergio of Aiken, South Carolina, Kami Burton and husband William of Charleston, Joshua Meredith of Honolulu, Hawaii, Shauna Scott of Colorado; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
