Sylvan "Jack" Pennartz resided at Charleston, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, August 28, 2008, in a Fort Smith Hospital after a 10 month battle with cancer. He was born February 11, 1920 in Charleston to the late Herman Joseph Pennartz and Theresia Woerner Pennartz. He was 88 years old. He was retired from the Fort Smith Covey Company and was a lifetime farmer. He was an Army veteran of WWII, member of the cattlemen's Association, American Legion, Farm Bureau Association and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. He is also preceded in death by his devoted wife Jean; six brothers, Phillip, Augustine, Julius, Conrad, Lenus and Herman and two sisters, Katherine Geesing and Eva Williams.

Rosary service will be 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 01, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston, with Father Peter Sharum O.S.B officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

He is survived by four daughters, Sylvia Berry of Southlake, Texas, Mary Pennartz of Charleston, Helen Bishop & husband Bob of Charleston and Dorothy Lawrence & husband Sid of Lavaca; one son, Thomas Pennartz & wife Lee of Beavercreek, Ohio; Six Grandchildren, Six Great-Grandchildren and One Great-Great Grandchild.

Pallbearers will be William McDonald, Marvin Rackley, Charles Miesner, Jerry Warren, Joe Kiene, and Paul David Gramlich.

Family will visit with friends following the Rosary service Sunday night.
