Susan Elaine Besaw of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Friday, March 31, 2023, at Mercy Hospice in Fort Smith. She was born on March 31, 1954, in Glasgow, Montana. to William D. Besaw and Doris J. (Sowa) Besaw. She was 69 years old. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Staggs; her mother, Doris J. Besaw; and four brothers, John, Robert, James, and William Besaw.

For several years, Susan was a bartender, and also was a kitchen manager at a state prison in Arizona.

She is survived by a son, Denny Staggs of California; her father, William Besaw of Fort Smith; four sisters. Aleta Kelsey and husband Charles of Louisiana, Margaret Oliver and husband Carl of Idaho, Sharon Dexter of Montana, and Maxine Besaw of Fort Smith; a brother, Kenneth D. Besaw of Fort Smith; one grandson, William Staggs.
