Sue Carol Hobbs, who resided near Lavaca, Arkansas, died Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Mercy Hospice in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on May 20, 1934, in Mulberry, Arkansas, to the late Perry Lee Johnson and Ruby Jewell (Tarpley) Johnson. She was 90 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, John B. Hobbs; a son, Jimmy Hobbs; a brother, Aubrey Harold Johnson; and a sister, Linda VanGorder Oakes.
Sue was a homemaker, and attended Union Baptist Church. She was a great cook, loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 3rd at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Pastor Kyle Horton and Pastor Russ Tyler officiating. Burial will follow at Island Cemetery, located near Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
She is survived by three sons, Johnny Hobbs and wife Debbie of Lavaca, Kenny Hobbs and wife Rayda of Lavaca, and Tommy Hobbs and wife Lisa of Clarksville; a sister, Ruthie Martin of Lavaca; two brothers, Shelley Johnson of Lavaca and Perry Wayne Johnson and wife Cindy of Bella Vista; five grandchildren, Shawn Hobbs and wife Cristi, Brad Hobbs, Dana Clunn, Mindy Hall and husband Aaron, and Lance Hobbs and wife Jennifer; ten great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ella, Alex, Aubree, Jac, Iris, Abby, Tommy, Harleigh, Rocky, and Bentley; a sister-in-law, Emma Jean Hobbs; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Shawn, Brad, Lance, Tyler, Alex, and Jac.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Dana Clunn and Mindy Hall
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
