Obituary

Stephen Michael Biggers of Charleston, Arkansas, died Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on February 24, 1953, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, to the late Neil Preston Biggers and Betty jean (East) Biggers. He was 70 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Wayne Biggers; and several brothers and sisters.

Stephen was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Navy. Stephen was on the ship USS Jouett. He was stationed in San Diego, California, and the Philippines. He was a Navy Engine Mechanic, and was honorably discharged due to a military injury. He will be buried with military honors.

Stephen had a love for camping, gardening, fishing, and bowling. He was a Hall of Fame Bowler, and he bowled sixteen 300 games and 800 series in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He could make anything out of wood. Most of all he loved his family.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 14th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial will follow, with military honors, at Dawson Cemetery, located between Greenwood and Burnsville, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Debra Kay (Holland) Biggers; a son, Michael Biggers and wife Shaelyn of Fort Smith; two daughters, Stephanie Muniz and husband Justin Killion of Radcliff, Kentucky, and Atsie Ocampo and husband Justin McKinney of Van Buren; three brothers, Gary Biggers and wife Rose of Charleston, Jackie Ensey and wife Jeri Lynn of Fort Smith, and Roger Ensey of Fort Smith; three sisters, Sherry Lynn Biggers of California, Geanette Bowlin of Fort Smith, and Tammy Self of Fort Smith; (21) grandchildren; and (17) great-grandchildren, with two on the way.

Pallbearers are Chuck Montgomery, Robert Bowlin, Pete Biggers, Mikey Biggers, Andrei Ocampo, Mario Vasquez, Dennis West, and Jastan Biggers.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday September 13th at the funeral home.
