Snookie Hughey, who resided in Paris, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday,, July 27, 2021, surrounded by her family at home. She was born May 4, 1932, in Vincent, Oklahoma, to the late Lee Reggie Johnson and Christine Mae Bush Johnson. She was 89 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Earl Hughey; a daughter, Vickie Hughey; two brothers, Fritz Johnson and Wayne Johnson; and a grandson, Gregory Hughey.
Snookie was a homemaker and faithful member of Ratcliff First Baptist Church. She loved her family and her church family very much, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 30th, at First Baptist Church in Ratcliff, with Bro. Robert Berry and Bro. Danny Robins officiating. Burial will follow at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Edwards and husband Roger of Kibler, Roger Hughey and wife Lydia of Ratcliff, and Robin Ellington and husband Steve of Paris; three sisters, Betty Lou Allen, Nancy Faulks and husband Sonny, and Barbara Jo Hubanks and husband Terry, all of Hollis, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Karla Robins, Brady Roberds, Cory Roberds, Misty Dobbins, Jason Hughey, and Angie Layes; (20) great-grandchildren and (17) great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Jason Hughey, Brady Roberds, Craig Layes, Keeton Adams, Scott Robins, Connor Bell-Whitburn, Neal Wade, and Blake Metcalf.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Flanagan, Dalton Roberds, and her caretakers, Sherry Schluterman, Michelle Ahne, Teresa Cale, and Jamie Sharp.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at First Baptist Church in Ratcliff.
