Shirley Ann Burton, who resided near Branch, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born September 9, 1938 in Branch, Arkansas to the late Leon Holland and June (Gray) Holland. She was 76 years old. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Cline Burton, Sr.
Shirley was a beautician. She also worked for the County Line School District for 28 years as a substitute teacher and a school aide. She was a 1956 graduate of County Line High School, member of the Franklin County Democratic Women's Group, and member of First Baptist Church in Branch.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Tim Hobbs and Mr. Steve Breedlove officiating. A family held burial of cremains will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston at a later date. Cremation and memorial services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Gattis and husband Roger of Ozark and Susan Hibbs and husband Kevin of Branch; two sons, Joe Burton, Jr. and wife Valerie of Branch and William Burton and wife Kami of Charleston; one sister, Vera Jean Roberts of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Roger Don Gattis Jr. and wife Savanna, Michael Brandon Gattis and wife Rachel, Annalyn Grace Burton and Joe C. Burton, III; three step-grandchildren, Jacob Hibbs, Payton Robertson, and Wyatt Robertson; one great-grandson, Mason Michael Gattis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Don Gattis, Jr., Michael Brandon Gattis, Joe Cline Burton, III, Gary White, Bill Gossage, Joe Powell, Mike Heffley, Dale Sharpe, Mark Heft, and Donald Riechmann.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home.
