Obituary

Sarah Earlene Crosby, who resided in Charleston, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019, in Fort Smith. She was born October 26, 1933, in Charleston, to the late Dr. Earl Nester Barton and Farry Faye McDonald Barton. She was 85 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Crosby; two brothers, Nelson Barton and Jerry Barton; two great-grandchildren, James Henry Polacek and Owen James Polacek.

Sarah was the first woman supervisor and retired from Good Year Tire and Rubber in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was also a homemaker and a loving caretaker for many years. She was a 1951 graduate of Charleston High School and a proud alumni of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Sarah was a Christian and a Saint to her family and friends. She loved her family, community, and had many many friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Polacek and husband Leonard of Pottsville; two sons, Bryan Crosby and wife Pat and Jeff Crosby and wife Wanda, all of Charleston; two sisters, Margaret Grant of Bakersfield, California and Frances Nutt of Lowell; her companion, William "Bill" Canessa of Charleston; seven grandchildren, David Polacek and wife Kristy, Kathryn Atkins and husband David, Daniel Polacek, Jacob Crosby, Jason Crosby, Rebecca Polacek and Meagan Crosby; two great-grandchildren, Caroline Polacek and Amelia Polacek.

Upon Sarah's request, her body was donated to Genesis Legacy of Life in Memphis, Tennessee for medical research.

The family will visit with friends and have a reception from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2nd at Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to Charleston High School Band @ P.O. Box 188  Charleston, AR  72933 in loving memory of Sarah E. Crosby.
