Royden Dean Slate of Huntington, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 8, 2924, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. He was born on July 4, 1957, in Fort Smith to the late Leonard Jack Slate and Barbara Jean (Webster) Slate. He was 66 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Jack, Lawrence, Richard, and Floyd Slate.

For several years, Royden worked at Whirlpool, Inc. in Fort Smith and was a retired millwright. He lived and enjoyed the simple life and loved his family very much. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by two daughters, Amanda Slate and Barbara Slate, both of Barling; three sons, Jeremy Slate of Hackett, Christopher Slate of Barling and Dakota Carter of Barling; two sisters, Patti Palmer of Hackett and Lois Madden of Roland, Oklahoma; three brothers, Doug Slate of Alaska, Aaron Slate of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and Clinton Slate of Tontitown, Arkansas; his former wife, Donna Slate; six grandchildren, Lacey Slate, Cheyenne Shores, Krissa Slate, Gianna Garcia, Aiven Slate, and Breanna Slate; and two great-grandchildren, Emerson Slate and Leighton Solomon.
