Obituary

Robert L. Raible, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Fort Smith. He was born April 16, 1938 in Prairie View, Arkansas to the late Alois L. Raible and Anna Marie (Kremers) Raible. He was 77 years old. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Wilfred Raible; and his son-in-law, Mark Franzen.

Robert had a Master of Science-Agronomy Degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and retired from agriculture. He was past president of Louisiana Soybean Association, a 1956 graduate of Charleston High School, member of Knights of Columbus, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. Robert played football for the Charleston Tigers in 1954-1956, and was one of only two Charleston football players, the other being Steve Cox, to have his football jersey retired. He was an avid gardener, who supplied many neighbors, friends, and residents of Greenhurst Nursing Home with a variety of fruits and vegetables. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Robert and Pat would have been married 58 years November 9th. He loved his wife, who he called P. Ward, dearly.

Rosary service will be 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1st, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston.

Funeral mass will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 2nd, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Patsy (Ward) Raible; one daughter, Polly Franzen of Stuttgart; one son, Michael Raible and Mary of Pine Bluff; one sister, Mildred Parker and husband Tommy of Charleston; one brother, James Raible and wife Carolyn of Charleston; sister-in-law, Delores Raible of Charleston; four grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah, Sara, and Hunter; one great-grandchild, Carsyn Tyler.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Franzen, Hunter Raible, Chad Wilson, Nathan Hodges, Kim Loughridge, and Greg Newhart.

Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Carson.

Family will visit with friends following the rosary service.
