IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Leon
Harness
January 21, 1968 – January 21, 2025
Robert Leon Harness, known to many as Rob, passed away on his 57th birthday, January 21, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born on January 21, 1968, in Wichita, Kansas. Rob lived life on his own terms—fearless, independent, and always ready for the next adventure.
Rob grew up in Roeland Park, Kansas, surrounded by many close friends. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1987 and later made his home in Carthage, Texas, where he spent many years before retiring to his dream home in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, Rob was a proud member of The Texas Highwaymen MC, where he found camaraderie and shared his passion for riding. His adventurous spirit and deep sense of connection to the world around him made him a man of quiet wisdom and reflection.
Rob is survived by his father, Bobby Leon Harness; his sisters, Deborah Jean LaBron and Suzanne Taylor; his brother-in-laws, Doyle LaBron and Trey Taylor; his nephew, Blaine LaBron; his niece, Tiffany Taylor; and his nephew, Austin Taylor. He also leaves behind many friends who became family along the way. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Ann Harness; his maternal grandparents, Myrtle Jean Foster and Marsaylus "Red" Foster; and his paternal grandmother, Ada Harness.
In keeping with his free spirit, Rob's ashes will be scattered along the Arkansas section of the Cherokee Trail near Gravette, Arkansas—a place that held deep meaning for him and his family, who are proud citizens of the Cherokee Nation. This historic trail, a part of the Trail of Tears, represents resilience and strength, qualities that Rob carried with him throughout his life.
Per Rob's wishes, there will be no formal service or gathering. Those who knew him are encouraged to remember him in their own way—whether on the open road, in the company of good friends, or in quiet reflection of a life well-lived.
Ride free, Rob. The road will never be the same without you.
