IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Scott
Russell
May 9, 1951 – December 25, 2024
Richard Scott Russell, 73, a resident of Van Buren, AR, passed away on December 25, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. Richard was born on May 9, 1951, in New York City, NY, to Howard and Martha Russell.
Although his early childhood included both New York, Bethesda, MD and Cincinnati, Oh, Richard's most formative years were spent growing up in Glenview, IL, which he referred to as home. Attending Tulsa University led him to move south, and he never left the region. Richard retired in 2020 after years in the sales industry, both in jewelry and the auto industry. His most recent years, he worked at both Rhodes Chevrolet in Van Buren and Orr Auto of Fort Smith.
Richard was a people person. He loved making friends with everyone he met. He especially enjoyed talking about his kids and grandkids. When he was feeling up to it, Richard went to Community Bible Church of Van Buren, AR. His faith and dependence on Jesus helped him fight through several cancer diagnoses over the past few years.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Martha Russell. He is survived by his sons, Scott (Elizabeth) Russell of Southaven, MS, Chris (Dadrian) Russell of Russellville, AR, Nathaniel Russell of Fort Smith, AR, and Caleb (Katie) Willis of Fort Smith, AR. Grandchildren: Taylar, Katie Beth, Jeremiah, Isaac, and Wade; his brothers, Greg (Janice) Russell of Athens, TX and Michael (Vicki) Russell of Holland, MI.
At Richard's request, there will be no services held. Thank you for the prayers and support of his family during this time.
On behalf of Richard's family, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the medical staff who have dedicated their efforts to providing exceptional care for our father over the years. We are particularly appreciative of the Oncology Department at Mercy Medical for their unwavering support and compassionate care.
