Obituary

Raymond Sidney King, Sr., who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, died Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. He was born on May 10, 1944, in Atkins, Arkansas, to the late Henry N. King and Martha (Guffey) King. He was 78 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Faye (Wheeler) King; a son, Randy Wheeler; a granddaughter, Rachel King; a sister, Cathryn Woody; and three brothers, Johnny, Leon, and Billy King.

Raymond worked for a janitorial service.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Johnson and husband Clifton of Belleville, Arkansas, and Vickie Murray and companion Terry Wheelis of Bono, Arkansas; two sons, Ray King and wife Crissy of Charleston and Billy King and wife Trisha of Branch; a sister, Ann Rudder and husband Jimmy of Russellville; two brothers, Jerry King and wife Louise of Atkins and Terry King of Russellville; (12) grandchildren and (17) great-grandchildren. Raymond also considered the Greenhurst Nursing Home staff and residents of Greenhurst as his extended family whom he loved very much.

Public viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27th and the family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will not be a funeral service. Cremation will follow after the visitation and cremains will be placed at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston. All arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
