Obituary

Raylene Annette Meador, 74, of Van Buren, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 10, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Joplin, Missouri, on February 23, 1950, to Ray and Helen (Renfro) Meador.

Raylene graduated from Joplin High School in 1968. She attended Missouri Southern College for two years before marrying in 1970.  Her first career was being a homemaker and raising her two children. Her second career was owning and running Something Special Ceramics in Fort Smith in the 1990's. Her last career was at Lowe's in Fort Smith where she worked for 23 years until her retirement in 2023. The highlight of her year was the day after Thanksgiving when she would dress up as Mrs. Claus and hand out candy canes to all the kids coming into the store.

Raylene enjoyed many creative hobbies over the years. Her favorite was painting ceramics. She also loved to cook and bake. Many knew her as the lady that makes delicious Christmas candy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Farrar. She is survived by a sister, Paula Trease and husband Ron Record of Joplin, Missouri; a daughter, Angela Bramlett of Van Buren; a son, Jacob Todhunter of Davenport, Florida; three granddaughters, Victoria Bramlett of Russellville, Arkansas, Katianne Bramlett of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Abigail Bramlett of Van Buren; and several nieces and nephews.

No funeral service is planned at this time. At a later time, there will be a memorial graveside service at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri, where she will be laid to rest.
