Chief Master Sergeant Ralph Raymond Reid, Jr., a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, passed away on April 23, 2022. Ralph was born on December 20, 1931, to Ralph Ransome Reid and Jesse Jewel Wilbanks in Parker, Arizona. On March 30, 1956, Ralph married his life partner, Mary Arlene Holeman in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Ralph enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 5, 1951, serving a total of 40 years, with honor. He reached the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, serving as a flight engineer, flight chief, and load master. Ralph was very proud to be a veteran and to have served his country. He was a true patriot.
Ralph graduated from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, with a master's degree in education. He spent his civilian career teaching mathematics to junior and senior high students in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Utah. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, Masonic Lodge #378 (32nd degree), and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, and his daughter, Barbara Rynhart. He is survived by his sons, David and wife Cindy, and Steven and wife Denise; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28th at the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home, 2200 East Walnut, Paris, Arkansas. Burial, with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard Team, will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris. Visitation will take place one hour prior to service at 1:00 p.m. A heartfelt thank you to Tina, Chelsie, and the staff at Young Mugs Café. The special attention you showed our Dad during his daily breakfast visit was kindness beyond measure.
The family would also like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Greenhurst Nursing Center and his special friends (you know who you are) for the gentle and loving care our Dad received during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, Ralph requested donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
