Phillip Washington Cox, who resided in the Cox Valley Community near Paris, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, in Booneville, Arkansas. He was born December 12, 1928, in the Chismville Community in Logan County to the late Ernest O'dell Cox and Lula Gertrude (Hice) Cox. He was 87 years old. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Leona Cox; one daughter, Glenna Jean Cox; and one son, Phillip Lynn Cox.
Phillip retired from Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company in California. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and he was a member of Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 21st, at Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, with the Rev. Vondal Davenport officiating. Burial will be at Clark Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
He is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Cox of Fort Smith; one son, Jimmy Cox of Cox Valley Community; two sisters, Velma Humphreys and Elda Bynum, both of Cox Valley Community; one brother, Eldon Cox of Cox Valley.
Pallbearers will be Doug Hice, Jason Brown, Beau Shelton, David Cox, Stephen Cox, and Randy Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alvis Davis, Earl Robertson, and Clifton Hice.
Family will visit with friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home.
