Peggy J. Sharum resided in Greenwood, Arkansas, passed away Friday, December 17, 2010 at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith. She was born October 16, 1934 in Fort Smith to the late Joseph Sharum and Irene Mable (Ritchie) Sharum. She was 76 years old.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Ann Payne; one sister, Dorothy Schmitz, and one brother, Jake Sharum.

Peggy worked several years in the restaurant business as a cook at Pete's Place, George's, and Catsavisis in Fort Smith. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fort Smith. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by one step-daughter, Helen Sue Taylor of Florida; five sisters, Francis McDaniel of Oklahoma City, OK., Mary Yutterman, Barbara Yow, Sharon Levings, and Darlene Sharum, all of Fort Smith; one brother, Virgil Sharum of Mulberry; two grandchildren, Rodney West & wife Ashley of Charleston and Brenda Payne Mendenhall of Greenwood; four great grandchildren, Katherine & Madeline West and Kylee & Parker Mendenhall.

Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night at the funeral home.

The body will be cremated following the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fort Smith Museum of History, I.C. Catholic School, St. Boniface Catholic School, or Arkansas Children's Hospital.
