Obituary

Peggy Ann Mainer, who resided in the Coles Chapel Community, located south of Branch, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on January 5, 1939, in Charleston, Arkansas, to the late Haroldine H. Hammond and Mary Ellen (Knight) Hammond. She was 85 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, H.H. and Mary Hammond, and her favorite cat, Domino.

Peggy was a 1956 graduate of County Line High School. For several years, Peggy was an accountant. She was a real estate broker and along with her husband Bill, owned and operated County Line Realty in Branch, and owned and operated H&R Block Tax Services in Paris. She was an expert in glassware, a huge supporter of County Line Schools and County Line basketball, and member of Coles Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19th at Coles Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kevin Krest officiating. Burial will follow at Coles Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bill Mainer; a daughter, Leslie Dean Mainer of Seattle, Washington; a son, Billy Ray Mainer and wife Carmen of the Coles Chapel Community; four grandchildren, Brittany Brunson and husband Joe, Lacey Mainer and partner Bill Magee, Zachary Mainer and wife Leilani Ocasio, and Daniella Llach and husband Luis Reyes; and four great-grandchildren, Sloane Ellen Brunson, Ava Dean Brunson, Emilia Reyes and Luis Joaquin Reyes.

Pallbearers are Joe Brunson, Zachary Mainer, Lacey Mainer, Bill Magee, Leilani Ocasio, and Jared Hammond.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society on fighting breast cancer, Coles Chapel Cemetery Fund, or to donors own charity choice.
