Paul H. Taylor, who resided in Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at his daughter's home in McLoud, Oklahoma. He was born January 20, 1921 in Branch, Arkansas to the late Edward Fanoy Taylor and Lee Alice (Layman) Taylor. He was almost 95 years old. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Ellen (Pugh) Taylor; one son, Robert Lee Taylor; one great-grandson, Jason Samuel Tobey; one great-granddaughter, Kristin Nicole Tobey; and four brothers.
Paul worked at Ward's Ice Cream in Fort Smith for many years. He was a WWII Army veteran. He was a retired custodian, deacon, and member of the church he dearly loved, Lavaca First Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30th, at First Baptist Church in Lavaca, with Mark Tobey and Dr. Terry Rials of Crestview Baptist Church in Oklahoma City officiating the service. Burial, with military honors, will be at Lavaca City Cemetery in Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Cheek and husband Danny of McLoud, Oklahoma; one brother, Junior Taylor and wife Lucille of Clovis, California; six grandchildren, Diana Hutchins and husband Ronnie of Lavaca, Brian Taylor and wife Kay of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Rick Tobey and wife Jackie of Bloomer, Melissa McGee of Lavaca, Mark Tobey and wife Tina of Hartford, and Patty Woods and husband Curtis of Yukon, Oklahoma; six step-grandchildren, Jeff Cheek and wife Vanessa of Roland, Oklahoma, Kim Benno and husband John of San Ramon, California, Mike Cheek and wife Dana of McLoud, Oklahoma, Lisa Simmons and husband Dennis of Joplin, Missouri, Tonya Cheek of Seminole, Oklahoma and Missy Cheek of Roland, Oklahoma; (15) great-grandchildren and (17) step great-grandchildren; (5) great-great grandchildren and (13) step great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Taylor, Kalen Tobey, Dustin Tobey, Darren Hutchins, Blake Hutchins, Kyle Woods, Eric Tobey,and
Michael McGee.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Taylor, Rick Tobey, Mark Tobey and Curtis Woods
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Lavaca First Baptist Church.
