Ola Holden Titsworth resided in Cecil, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the Greenhurst Nursing Home in Charleston. She was born February 14, 1913 in Cecil, Arkansas to the late Hugh Franklin Griffith and Sarah Frances Blagg Griffith. She was 96 years old.
Ola was a retired sales clerk for the United Hardware Store in Ozark. She was also a news correspondent for the Charleston Express for 21 years. Throughout her life, she supported herself and her children by working as a sales clerk, as a waitress, as owner-operator of a grocery store and two cafes, and by dressmaking. For several years, she wrote the "Cecil Chatter" for the Charleston Express and the Lavaca Levee. She attended the Cecil United Methodist Church and the Oak Grove Community Church.
She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Homer and Otis Griffith; two sisters, Edith Griffith and Sylvia Morris; her first husband, Dudley Holden; her husband Ralph Titsworth; granddaughter, Vicki Holden Robinson and a great-grandson, Kurt Robinson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Cecil United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Wyers officiating. Burial will be at the Eubanks Cemetery, located west of Cecil, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by one daughter, Martha Bagley of Fort Smith; two sons, D.C. Holden and wife Della, of Cecil and Hugh Holden and wife Paulette, of Cecil; 10 grandchildren, Martha Holden Gingras, Charles Holden, Beth Holden Reece, Cheri Holden Williams, Jefferson Bagley, Christian Bagley, Mark Ford, Steven Ford, Michael Ford, and Jennifer Ford and 18 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Holden, Travis Williams, Jefferson Bagley, Christian Bagley, Robert Maier, and Mark Martin.
Family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home.
