Norma Jean Hutchins, who resided in the Bloomer Community near Charleston, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Baptist Health Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on July 19, 1954, in Ozark, Arkansas, to the late Clarence Nicklas and Goldie (Freeman) Nicklas. She was 69 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Clarence Rayburn Nicklas.

For several years, Norma was an assistant manager and cashier for Casey's General Store in Lavaca, Charleston, and Fort Smith. In her early years, Norma worked for Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She enjoyed going to the casino and she loved her family very much. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Upon Norma's request, there will not be a public viewing and her burial will be prior to the memorial service at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 7th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Bill VanMeter officiating. All services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of 30 plus years, Ron Hutchins; a daughter, Summer Dawn Hardin of Ozark; a step-son, Ronnie Frank Hutchins of Charleston; and her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hardin and Coleen Hardin, both of Charleston, Ava Grace Chappell and Jameson Michael-Paul Chappell, both of Coal Hill, and Addilyn Elaine Beck, Joshua Cole Beck, and Jonathan Christopher Beck, all of Fort Smith.

The family will visit with friends following the memorial service.
