Obituary

Norma Rue Brown, age 88, of Ratcliff, Arkansas, died peacefully Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston where she resided the last three years. She was born on March 28, 1933, at home in the Mt. Hope Community, located north of Ratcliff in Franklin County, to the late Albert Ray Council and Linnie Belle (O'Neal) Council. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Brown; three brothers, Roger, J.B., and G.S. Council; a sister, Eula Mae Spicer; and a granddaughter, Shonda (Brown) Smith.

Norma was a retired L.P.N. for the V.A. Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was a 1951 graduate and was member of the first graduating class of County Line High School. Norma was also a homemaker, worked several years at Greenhurst Nursing Center, and attended Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 17th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Bill VanMeter officiating. Burial will follow at Lowes Creek Cemetery, located north of Branch, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by two sons, Kerry Brown and wife Karla of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Jerry Brown and wife Gaylya of Ratcliff; her grandchildren, Christopher Brown and wife Rhonda, Patrick Brown and wife Annie, Megan Dietz and husband Daniel, Matthew Brown and fiancée Catherine, Dustin Brown and wife Donna, and Casey Brown and wife Whitney; her great-grandchildren, Kayla Rhodes and husband Matt, Lexie and Brayden Brown, Ethan, Emerson, and Berkley Brown, Joshua and Jayleigh Smith, Cory Meyers and wife Cherish, Dustin and fiancée Brook, Lyndsey Brown, Lauren Hice and husband Lucas, and Hagen and Kelby Rudd; her great-great-grandchildren, Waylon and Cloe Meyers, Grayson and Caroline Hice, and Mia Brown.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Chris Brown, Patrick Brown, Matt Brown, Casey Brown, Dusty Brown, Dustin Brown, Joshua Smith, and Brayden Brown.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 16th at the funeral home in Charleston.
