Murna Gayle Scott, who resided near Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born November 11, 1970 in De Queen, Arkansas to the Rev. Melvin Phillip Baker and Marilyn Sue (Smalling) Baker. She was 44 years old.
Murna was owner and operator of Adorable Pals Kennel where she raised, cared for, and sold Maltese puppies. She was a 1989 graduate and valedictorian of Battiest High School in Battiest, Oklahoma. Being a pastor's daughter, Murna grew up singing in church. She had a passion for singing and gospel music and was a very talented musician. She and her husband, Pastor Terry Scott, have been in the ministry together since 1994. They have ministered together in churches in Waldron, Lamar, and Charleston. In October 2009, Terry and Murna started Life Church in Charleston and completed the new church building in August 2012. She was the worship leader and children's and youth group leader at Life Church. God was always first in her life, but her first priority was taking care of her family. Murna was a great lady who lived a Christian life and set an example for everyone to live by. She will be missed.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 23rd, at First Baptist Church in Lavaca, with Dr. Kemp Holden and Dr. Randy Caldwell officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Pastor Terry Scott; her twin sons, Daymon Scott and Garett Scott, both of Charleston; her father and mother, Rev. Melvin and Marilyn Baker of Hochatown, Oklahoma; her sister, Marsha Moody and husband Brian of Wills Point, Texas; her father and mother-in-law, Harold and Ann Scott of Witcherville; two sisters-in-law, Alanna Elmore and husband Jerry of Witcherville and Angie Scott of Charleston; one niece, Preslee Moody; four nephews, Logan Moody, Hunter and Brenden Elmore, and Devin Smith.
Pallbearers will be Rev. Dean Caldwell, Rev. Ed Huie, Rev. Keith Williams, Rev. Randy Holmes, Rev. Keith Walker, and Wendell Holmes.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at Life Church in Charleston.
