Mona Faye Mahl, who resided near Branch, Arkansas, died Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on October 10, 1940, at home near Witcherville in Sebastian County, to the late John Melvin Gross and Wilma Marie (Edwards) Gross. She was 83 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Gene Mahl; and a nephew, John Gross.

For 30 years, Mona was a secretary for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. Some of her favorite past times was sewing, quilting, and working puzzles. Mona was a faithful member of Branch First Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and mammah, who will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 30th at First Baptist Church in Branch. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be Pastor Tim Hobbs.

She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Lewis and husband Billy of Brighton, Colorado; a son, Mike Mahl and wife Christie of Branch; a brother, Merle Gross and wife Kathy of Prairie Grove; five grandchildren, LeighAnn Hall, Tara Hernandez, Lacy Scheiber, Trisha Hall, and Jamie Fritsche; and six great-grandchildren, Aunnah, Hannah, Cruz, Jaren, Maggie, and Will.

Pallbearers are Sam Sneed, Dewayne Hopkins, Clinton Bottoms, Armando Hernandez, Cruz Garcia, Jeff Gross, Bryan Gross, and Josh Fritsche.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
