Obituary

Ramona Jean Barnes of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Saturday, June 15, 2024, at her home. She was born on August 15, 1950, in Charleston, Arkansas, to the late Hubert Gilliam and Ruth Gilbert Gilliam. She was 73 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim Barnes; and two sons, David Miliam and Travis Barnes.

For many years, Mona worked as a carhop at Sonic Drive In.

She is survived by a son, Kaylon Barnes of Fort Smith; a daughter, Theresa Deiss of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Charlotte Hurston of Van Buren; two brothers, Billy Huddleston of Spiro, Oklahoma, and Butch Huddleston of Fort Smith; a granddaughter, Madalyn Walker; and two nieces, Tracy Fines of Spiro, Oklahoma, and Pamela Sharp of Fort Smith.
