Obituary

Melvin Lee Pierce, Jr., who resided in the Ursula Community near Charleston, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. He was born on August 28, 1952, in Charleston to the late Melvin Lee Pierce, Sr. and Lillian (Webb) Pierce. He was 69 years old. He was preceded in death by two sons, Kevin Lee Pierce and Ronnie Cummings, and a brother, Billy Tom Pierce.

Melvin was a truck driver and worked for Stem Transport LLC on Feather Hill Road near Charleston.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13th at Mayberry Cemetery in Central City, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Christine (Hobbs) Pierce; two sons, Tim Cummings and wife Laurie of Lavaca and Robert Cummings of Charleston; two daughters, Rebekah Pierce of Charleston and Jaylynn White of the home; a brother, Bryan Pierce and wife Debbie of Lavaca; a sister, Lou Jordan of Central City; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Public viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12th and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
