Melvin James Lemons, who resided near Hartman, Arkansas, passed away Friday, August 17, 2018, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born March 6, 1942, in Bear County in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Thomas Clyde Lemons and Grace Ruth (Ellis) Lemons. He was 76 years old. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Dean Lemons.

Melvin was a retired peace officer for Bandera County Sheriff's Office in Bandera, Texas, and he served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his companion, Linda James of Hartman; one brother, David Lemons of Addison, Texas; and a sister, Deborah Lynne Lemons of Madill, Oklahoma.

No services will be held. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Cremation Service of Fort Smith.
