Obituary

Melvin L. Groomer, died on the evening of July 22, 2021. He was born on October 10, 1935, in Mena, Arkansas. He was a devoted, kind, and compassionate Christian who had a quiet sense of humor and helped others however he could. He owned and operated Mel's Refrigeration for many years before retiring and going to work as a member of the maintenance team for Western Sizzlin and TGI Fridays. He enjoyed bluegrass music, the guitarist Govi, and flying his ultralight airplanes. In his younger years he was also a preacher, evangelist, and pastor.

Melvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Linda (Massey) Groomer who died in 2012; two sisters, Betty (AZ), and Margie (AZ); two brothers, Wayne (TX), and Larry (AZ). He is survived by his two sons, Michael Groomer of Hackett, AR, and Darwin Groomer of Monett, MO; daughter in law, Ana Groomer (MO); three grandchildren, Alejandro Groomer (MO), Luis Groomer (MO), Gabriela Groomer (MO); two sisters, Coleen (AZ), Mary (ID); and a brother, Derald (AR).

The memorial service for Melvin Groomer will be at 11:00AM on Friday, September 10, 2021. The service will be held at the Senator Ed Wilkinson Community Pavilion in Bell Park, Greenwood, Arkansas. The location address is 1050 Bell Park Road. Flowers can be delivered to that location on the date of the service between 9:00 -10:30 AM.
