Maxine Hobbs, who resided in Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at her home. She was born May 18, 1921 in Lavaca, Arkansas to the late Spencer Austin Maness and Lillie (Rankins) Maness. She was 92 years old. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Hobbs; one son, Ronald Hobbs; two sisters, Gladys Lovell and Betty Jo Knox; two brothers, Dayton Maness and Greenville Maness.
Maxine was a homemaker, member of Ann Staton's Sunday school class and member of Lavaca First Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Rev. Eric Green officiating. Burial will be at Lavaca City Cemetery in Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by two daughters, Marlon Ward and husband Bruce of Hope, Arkansas and Connie Chronister of Lavaca; one brother, Ralph Maness of Lavaca; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Shannon Jones, Nick Hobbs, Brad Ward, Jennifer Richardson, Ryan Chronister, Chad Chronister, and Chip Chronister.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Chronister, Dennis Jewell, Darren Smithson, Arnold Sexton, Ben Ray, Steve Ray, and Ernie Ellison.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
