Mary Cathryn Bohannan of Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. She was born on November 26, 1940, in Charleston to the late Claud "Sam" Loughridge and Noami (Ramsey) Loughridge. She was 84 years old. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charlie Loughridge.
Mary worked for Stuky & McKay Franchise in Fort Smith, the City of Charleston as a treasurer recorder for 28 years, City Council member for 10 years, and bookkeeper for Hug Chevrolet in Charleston. She was the owner and operator of Mary's Bookkeeping Services and faithful member of Potts Freewill Baptist Church. Mary was loved by her family and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Landen Scoggins officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
She is survived by her husband of more than 64 years, Charles William Bohannan; two sons, Randy Bohannan and wife Debbie of Merrick, New Hampshire, and Greg Bohannan and wife Shelia of Lavaca; a sister, Peggy Sue Neal of Charleston; a brother, Jerry "Tudy" Loughridge and wife Neta of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Bohannan and wife Carrie, Scott Bohannan and wife Casey, Jennifer Bohannan, Rachel Bohannan, Lyndsey Williams and husband Justin, Brittany Epperson and husband Joseph, and Kristen Henderson and husband John David; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Jonathan Bohannan, Scott Bohannan, Rachel Bohannan, Jennifer Bohannan, Justin Williams, and Trae Neal.
Honorary pallbearers are Joseph Epperson, John David Henderson, Cordel Hardley, and members of the Charleston Senior Citizens-Bean Bag Baseball.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
