Lyndal Leon "Sonny" Reed, who resided in Caulksville, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born February 21, 1925 in Franklin County near Caulksville to the late Bon Reed and Verna (Nunn) Reed. He was 89 years old. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynell Reed; one sister, Mildred O'Neal; and two brothers, infant Sammy Joe Reed and Dale Reed.

Sonny was a longshoreman during the war. He worked for Boeing Aircraft. He was a retired farmer, school bus driver, and janitor for County Line School District. He was an avid fisherman and member of Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5th, at Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Caulksville, with the Rev. Bill Van Meter and Rev. Eldon Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Kersey Cemetery, located north of Ratcliff, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Velma (Boren) Reed; one daughter, Diana Sparks of Caulksville; one son, Stewart Reed of Caulksville; one sister, Jane Brewer of Gore Oklahoma; two brothers, Rex Reed of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Bob Reed of Caulksville; three grandchildren, Donald Landrum, Kaleb Sparks, and Eli Reed; two step-grandchildren, Lauren Smiley and Erica Owen; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Rod Nietert Jeremy Nietert, Taylor Nietert, Ed Raper, Kenny Reed, Randy Reed, Jimmy Pannell, and Tim O'Neal.

Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
