Loyd William Walker, who resided in Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, at his home. He was born October 3, 1944, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Johnnie William Walker and Dorothy Mae (Smith) Walker. He was 71 years old. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie Lee Walker.
Loyd was a 1962 graduate of Fort Smith High School. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for H.L. Johnson Construction Company in Fort Smith, and he was of the Assembly of God faith.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10th, at Steep Hill Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mildred (Wilhite) Walker; his daughter, Gayla Watson and husband Chris of Lavaca; his son, Wayne Walker and wife Darla of Lavaca; his sister-in-law, Barbara Walker of Owasso, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Marcus, Avery and Piper Walker and Brooklyn, Cooper, and Paige Watson.
Family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home.
