Loyal Ray Cameron of Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on April 10, 1945, in Paris, Arkansas, to the late Horace "Buster" Cameron and Genevia D. (Parker) Cameron. He was 80 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles "Chuckie" Cameron; three brothers, Harold, Arlis and Charles Cameron; and an infant sister, Barbara Jean Cameron.
Ray was a retired steel fabricator at Whirlpool, Inc. in Fort Smith. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. Ray loved his family very much and will be missed by all who knew him.
Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1st at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Deacon Mark Verkamp officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 2nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Polycarp Ssebbowa and Deacon Mark Verkamp officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Butler) Cameron; a daughter, Monica Hutchins and husband Tim of Branch; two grandchildren, Robert Smith of Branch and Chase Cameron and wife Destiny of Fort Smith; two great-grandchildren, Jasper Ray Cameron and Eden Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Chase Cameron, Robert Smith, Ronnie Shelby, Joe Flanagan, Mark Bowen, and Tim Hutchins.
