Lou Ellen (Punkin) Brewer-Manes, a lifelong resident of Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in Lavaca. She was born on September 16, 1927, in Lavaca to the late Leonard Alvia Dooly and Virgie (Underwood) Dooly. She was 97 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Joe Brewer; an infant son, Mickey Allen Brewer; her daughter, Elaine Brotherton; and two brothers, Dewayne Dooly and Randy Dooly.

For many years, Lou Ellen worked at Hunts Dry Goods and Dillard's Department Store in Fort Smith. She was a devout Christian, taught Sunday school for 78 years, and member of Lavaca First Baptist Church. She loved her family, her church family, and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 1st at First Baptist Church in Lavaca. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery near Greenwood, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be Pastor Randy Hogan, Pastor Steven Smithson, and Pastor Kyle Horton.

She is survived by her son, Barry Joe Brewer and wife Tina of Lavaca; a sister, Helen Dooly Mantooth and husband Dwight of Charleston; a brother, Jerry Dooly of Lavaca; four grandchildren, Courtney Metcalf and husband Ron of Waldron, Chris Brotherton and wife Amy of Greenwood, Kerri Fowler-Whitson and husband Josh of Greenwood, and Mindy Chronister and husband Ryan of Lavaca; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters, with one more on the way.

Pallbearers are Dale Jetton, Darin Jetton, Ryan Chronister, Josh Whitson, Jake McRorey, and Joshua McRorey.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Lavaca First Baptist Church.
