LITTLE ROCK — Lona "Pete" Hewitt McLeod, formerly of Charleston, died Sunday, November 23, 2014, at Briarwood Nursing Center in Little Rock. She was 97.
She was born December 27, 1916 near Charleston, Arkansas, to the late Robert Oliver Robins and Emma Lee (Burrows) Robins and the youngest of eight children.
She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Hewitt and Harry McLeod; son, Jimmy Don Hewitt; and daughter, Jane Hewitt Barnard.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Hewitt Hankins and son-in-law, Buddy, of Little Rock; two step-daughters, Patricia White of Fort Smith and Sandra Peace of Meeker, Okla.; four grandsons, Bill Hewitt, Roy Barnard, Jeff Hankins and Brent Hankins; two step-grandsons, Alan and Mark Bearden; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
