Emzy Leon Furr, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, at his home. He was born March 24, 1946, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to the late Jesse Furr and Kathleen (Barrett) Furr. He was 69 years old. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Camelia Lea Furr.
Leon was a retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He served his country for 21 years as a Marine, and he was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 22nd, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston officiated by the Rev. Terry Scott. Burial (With Full Military Honors) will be at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum in Muskogee, Oklahoma, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by four daughters, Cathy Sanson of Charleston, Carren Ashby of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jodie Erfurt and husband Herb of Gainsville, Florida, and Rebecca Thomas of Muskogee; one son, Steven Furr and wife Connie of Charleston; one sister, Patty Hiner and husband Tom of Muskogee; two brothers, Dewayne Furr and wife Deborah of Burleson, Texas and Jack Furr and wife Cindy of Charleston; (11) grandchildren and (6) great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.
The family will visit with friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
