Laretta L. Boyd  of Greenwood, Arkansas, died Friday, February 17, 2023, at her home. She was born on July 19, 1940, in Charleston, Arkansas, to the late William Elzie VanMeter and Wilma Sarah Cleta (Burke) VanMeter. She was 82 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dennis VanMeter.

For many years, Laretta was a mail carrier, and in her younger years, was a school teacher. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church near Abbott, Arkansas.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 20th at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be Elder Philip Blankenship.

She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, John W. Boyd; her daughter, Kelsie Boyd of Greenwood; a sister, Cleta Edgmon and husband Gary of Charleston; and two grandchildren, Justin Chastain of Greenwood and Hunter Chastain and wife Paige of Fort Smith.
