L M Gibbs, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas (formerly of Pine Bluff), passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 25, 2021 in Charleston, Arkansas. He was born on February 17, 1927 to the late Frank Houston Gibbs and Ola Mae (Humphrey) Gibbs in Hamburg, Arkansas. He was 94 years old.

After graduating from Hamburg High School, L M was drafted by the U. S. Army in 1945, where he served through the end of World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. Following his return to Arkansas, he saw a beautiful and vivacious red-head, Sarah Sallee, singing in the choir at church. They married on October 20, 1950 and enjoyed 70 years together. L M was an active member of Olive Branch Baptist Church for many years. He was employed by Kroger for 39 years and his Christian faith and hard work ethic were admired by many.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021, at Graceland Cemetery, 2122 West Pullen St., Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

L M's beautiful life will forever be cherished by his surviving family members, including his wife of 70 years, Sarah Gibbs; his son Clarence Dale Gibbs; nephews, William H. Gibbs, of San Diego, California, Dr. Mark R. Gibbs, of Little Rock, Arkansas and Arthur Oden of Hot Springs, Arkansas; nieces, Betty Brown of Hot Springs and Pam Moss of Almyra, Arkansas; and many other adopted nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as "Pappy" and will miss him terribly.
